FAQ

The WinePod Mini is real!   The WinePod technology has been proven over thousands of fermentations.  We are now bringing that technology to your counter top.   We don't strive to make "Frankenwines", we follow only proven, high-quality winemaking methods.   But, we do offer incredible technology that enables winemakers to do things they never thought possible.

Wait a second...is this thing real?

How can I get one (or two...) and how much does they cost?

The WinePod Mini is not available yet.  We are going to offer the first several hundred units on Kickstarter.com   The retail price for the units start at $699.  If you want to be part of the team that brings this product to wine lovers and wine researchers, then please go to the "Sign Up" page and give us your e-mail.

When will the Mini be available?

The WinePod Mini will be available in December, 2014.

Can I make (insert varietal or fruit here) with the Mini?

The WinePod Mini can make any varietal of vinifera grape in many styles.  It can also make ciders and other fruit wines.  It can also make Port wines (fortified wines).

How long does it take to make wine and do I need to be home during the whole time?

Just like commercial wineries, the most active stage of winemaking is the first 7 to 14 days.  During this time, you should be present at least twice a day for reds if you want to punch down the rising skins yourself.  If not, then you can use our submerged method. Just follow our action requests when they appear.

You don't need to be present for white wines everyday but it will benefit you as a winemaker to smell and taste once a day.  If you miss some days, just monitor progress on your phone.   After that, you need only attend to your wine once every few days until the secondary fermentation is complete.   Then once a month for several months until bottling.  All together, you can bottle your own great wine in 6-8 hours of your time.   Everyone is different and first time winemakers tend to check on their wines more often than experienced winemakers do (in our experience) just like first time parents!

OK, now for the most important question, does this really make great wine?

We put our musts and juices (Red or White) into "suspended animation" within hours of picking through a flash freezing process. This fruit is in pristine condition when it arrives at your door.   If you follow our directions, then YES-Absolutely you will make a great wine!!!    We have been told countless times from users of the original WinePod systems that their wines are refined, varietal and exhibit great mouthfeel, aromatics and intensity. Has anyone made bad wines? Of course, but the vast majority of the wines made are really good.   When you use our blend wines, you can really show your wine making chops by creating a unique blend.
