Q:  Does the Elertus have a monthly subscription fee?

A:   The Elertus does not have a monthly subscription fee.  However, in the future we may add additional features that would be premium services with a monthly fee.

Q:  I have a solid door, with no window in my cellar.  Does the Elertus signal work inside such a cellar?

A:  The Elertus WiFi signal should transmit properly with  a solid door.

Q:  What is the maximum distance I can install the Elertus from my wireless router?

A:  The Elertus will work through walls and floors anywhere in your home where you can normally get WiFi reception.

Q: Where should I install the Elertus in my cellar?

A:  Ideally, install the Elertus at the same level as the cellar temperature sensor, near the door.  This will match the temperature zones and cause the temperatures to be track accurately.  The door open switch cable is approximately 18” in length.

Q: Does the Elertus measure the bottle temperature or the cellar temperature?

A: The Elertus measures the cellar air temperature at the location of the sensor and does not use a probe.  This offers some benefits in that if the cellar fails, the air temp will rise before the bottle temperatures.

Q: If there is a power outage at my home  how will I get an alert that my cellar is not operating?

A:  If your home loses power or if you lose wireless connectivity for any reason, you will get an alert that the Elertus servers have lost contact with with your Elertus wine cellar unit in no more than 60 minutes.

Q. Why is the current status of my Elertus Sensor almost an hour old?
A. Your Elertus Sensor checks in every hour, unless an event that happens (door open, movement, etc). This is to increase the battery life of your Elertus Sensor.

Q. How can I get up to date data or check to see if it is working?
A. Quickly press and release the white ID button on the front of your Elertus Sensor. If the LED light is currently off, it will flash green in a few moments, and then turn solid green for about one minute. When the LED light turns solid green, you know that everything is working correctly. You can go to https://controlcenter.elertus.com, sign in to your account, and see that the status is updated to the time you pushed the ID button.

If the LED light turns solid red, there is a communication problem. Make sure that your wireless router is functioning correctly and your internet connection is working. Then try pushing the button again.

If this continues to be a problem, contact Elertus support at support@elertus.com or 801-657-5352 x2.

Q. Why does the humidity change when the temperature changes?
A. The humidity measured is relative humidity. Relative humidity is based on the temperature and the amount of water vapor actually present. Therefore the relative humidity will change with temperature.

Q. I just replaced my wireless router and my Elertus Sensor no longer works. What can I do?
A. If you have a new wireless router, it is possible that the network name (SSID) and/or password have changed. In order to get your Elertus Sensor to connect to this new network, go through the steps in the Quickstart Guide used to setup your Elertus Sensor when it was new. When prompted, put in the new network name (SSID) and new password. Put in the same email address that you are currently using as your account username.

Q. I got a new email address and no longer have access to my old email address that I use as my account username. Can I change my account username to my new email address?
A. In order to make this change, you will need to contact Elertus support at support@elertus.com or 801-657-5352 x2.

Q. I need to change my account password. How do I do this?
A. Go to https://controlcenter.elertus.com and instead of signing into your account, click the link ’Forgot your password?’. Follow the instructions to create a new password.

Q. Can I change the sensitivity of the movement detection?
A. At this time, you cannot change the sensitivity. We have calibrated the Elertus Sensor to be the correct sensitivity for most installations.

Q. Why do I get internet connection lost alerts?
A. Internet connections are not actually a 100% online connection, in fact it fluctuates. If the internet connection is in a state of flux when the Elertus Sensor tries to check in, it will issue an alert.

Q. What if I have more than one location I want to monitor?
A. If you have more than one location to monitor you must buy an additional Elertus Sensor and set it up with its own account using another unique email address.

Q. After my first attempt to configure, the LED light went red instead of green.
A. Don’t worry, just remove the batteries and start over with step one. The Elertus Sensor was unable to find your wireless network which is usually caused by a mistyped network name or an incorrect password.

Q. What does it mean when the LED light flashes green 3 times?
A. This is the pattern that indicates the Elertus Sensor has successfully powered up.

Q. Why is the LED light flashing "yellow"?
A. Your Elertus Sensor is in initial configuration mode (the button was held down for 8-10 seconds). You can either:
Proceed with initial configuration according to the instruction manual.
Abort initial configuration mode by removing and re-installing the batteries.
Wait up to 15 minutes for the initial configuration mode to timeout.

Q. Why is the LED light flashing "red"?
A. This indicates that the Elertus Sensor has had an issue powering up correctly. Remove the batteries and install known good batteries, and let the Elertus Sensor power up (do not push or hold the button). You should see three short flashes of green on the LED light. If the LED light resumes flashing RED, contact customer support to exchange the unit.

Q. Why does it occasionally take several moments to enter into the initial configuration mode?
A. The time-frame for acquiring configuration mode is somewhat variable, and is dependent upon several network and wireless environmental factors.

The most repeatable sequence of events is to put the batteries into the unit, wait to see the LED light flash green three times, then push the button and hold it until the LED light turns solid yellow. After a few seconds of solid yellow, the LED light will start to flash yellow indicating the configuration mode has been acquired.

Q. When I hold the button to go to configuration mode, the LED light goes yellow, then off and then flashes green three times?
A. This is an indication that the batteries are too weak to sustain configuration mode. Replace them with new batteries and repeat the process. If the unit still shows this issue, contact customer support to exchange the unit.

Q. Why does the LED light sometimes go solid red for 20 seconds or more and then turn solid green?

Or

Q. Why does the LED light sometimes go solid green for 20 seconds or more and then turn solid red?
A. A solid red indicates that the Elertus Sensor had problems communicating with the network. However, the Elertus Sensor will continue to try to connect, and if subsequent connections attempts are successful the LED light will then turn green.

If you see the LED light repeatedly changing over several minutes from solid red to green and back it is an indication of a network reliability issue. Try using the external antenna if you are a long distance away from your Wi-Fi router. Also assure that the network connection is consistent and good (use another Wi-Fi enabled device to verify a good connection).

Q. What if I can’t get my Elertus Sensor to connect to my wireless router?
A. You can try to power cycle the wireless router by unplugging the power to the router, waiting about 20 seconds, then plugging the power back into the router. After the router boots, see if the LED light turns green or force a connection by quickly pushing the white button.

Q. What if I have a two name last name like Van Dam, how do I input my last name in account creation or adding a contact?
A. You will need to concatenate or chain the name together, ie. VanDam.

Q. I searched the Apple App Store? on my iPad® and I cannot find the Elertus app. Why?
A. The Elertus app is currently developed for the iPhone®. The app will still work on the iPad. At the top of the app store search screen, click the ’iPhone Apps’ button to find the Elertus app. You can then proceed to download and install the app.

Q. I am not getting push notifications from the Elertus iPhone app. Why?
A. Turn on notifications (explain)

Q. I need to put my Elertus Sensor in a cold environment. What are the recommended batteries to use?
A. Use Energizer Ultra Lithium batteries.
